Clippin’ for a Cause Challenge – Day Two
Today is Day 2 of my Clippin’ for a Cause Challenge
(This is where I am trying to score as many products as possible with a budget of $100 to donate to those in need)
Before I get started, just let me say…I DID NOT clear any shelves to acquire these items
Today was a very interesting and quite frustrating trip to Target:
Here’s what I got:
4 Bonus Packs of Listerine
9 Sure Deodorants
(Just a heads up they are on Price cut for $1.50 – I used the $1/1 Coupons from 10/2 SS)
10 Packages of Carefree Liners
5 Benadryl Itch Sticks
14 Oral B Flosses
10 Reach Flosses
4 Bottles of Pantene
Total Out of Pocket including tax = $23.44 for 56 items or just $.42 per item
Total Saved = $63.51
Head over HERE to see how I spent $57.92 of my $100 budget on Day One!
I only have $18.64 left to spend at Walmart tomorrow…this one is going to be tough!
**On a whole other note…I really try to be a positive person and I try not to let too many things bother me, but I just gotta say, my trip to Target today was quite frustrating in that I felt like I was being punished for using coupons!
Let me explain: Apparently my Target store will let you buy as many of whatever item you want, but if you have coupons, then you are limited to “5 like items per household”!
I am fine with limits, don’t get me wrong…it’s cool to help with shelf clearing, but Target…if you are going to limit quantities, then limit them for everyone, not just people who are using coupons!
They had no problems ringing up 10 or 14 of the same items, but as soon as I whipped out my coupons, then all the sudden it became an issue, and they wanted to enforce this “ONLY 5 LIKE ITEMS” POLICY!
According to a little tiny sign posted at Guest services on the side wall where no one can see it (which when I asked to see it, they didn’t even know where the sign was),it states: ”Target has the right to limit items being purchased”
If that’s the case…then why did you even ring up all 10 or 14 of the same item…you should have stopped and mentioned this limit before you scanned everything!! Just because I had coupons…then all the sudden you are going to enforce a limit??
I don’t know, kind of seems logical that if you have a rule, you enforce it for everyone, not just us coupon shoppers…maybe one of the reasons I have only been shopping at Target like once a month!

Clippin’ for a Cause Challenge – Day One
Every year, the company that my husband works for does a food drive called the “Fall Fill Up” where they collect items for the local Food Bank!
This year my husband and I decided we would put $100 towards the cause and that I would use my coupon shopping skills to try an aquire as many items (that were on the specific request list) as I could without affecting our current stockpile! A big thanks to friends and family that were kind enough to donate extra coupons and my husband for spending time at the paper cutter clipping coupons for me!! It is now my job to spend a few hours the next few days to try and meet this shopping challenge!
Before I get started, just let me say…I DID NOT clear any shelves to acquire these items AND NO cashiers were harmed in the process, although the kid that was ringing me out at Dierbergs was pushing his luck
Here are the results from my first day of shopping at 2 Schnucks stores and Dierbergs!
SCHNUCKS:
(click on photo for a better look)
I got lucky in that my Schnucks is in the process of a remodel so they had a large selection of discontinued items such as the bags of rice that were only $.25, the Maggi Soup Mixes were only $.20 and the Colgate Pro Clinical Toothpaste was clearanced down to $.50 per box!
Here’s what I got:
26 cans of Wolf Chili
4 boxes of Folgers Single Packs
10 bags of Rice
2 Boxes of Riceland Rice
4 cans of Brooks Beans
2 cans of S&W Beans
3 boxes of Schnucks Cheeseburge Mac Meals
8 Colgate Pro Clinical Toothpaste
1 Beechnut Baby Cereal
10 Idahoan Mashed Potato Pouches
15 Nesquick
22 Maggie Soup Pouches
TOTAL SPENT = $33.65 (includes tax) for 107 items = $.31 per item
TOTAL SAVED = $121.33
DIERBERGS:
(click on photo for a better look)
Here’s how I did at Dierbergs:
6 Langers Juices
20 boxes of Barilla Pasta
4 Cans of Libbys Veggies
10 Bottles of Red Gold Ketchup
TOTAL PAID = $24.27 (includes tax) for 40 items = $.61 per item
I only have $42.08 left in the donation budget! EEEKS!
I’m going to need to re work my spreadsheet and numbers a little before I head over to Target tomorrow and I am saving my trip to Walmart for Saturday!
Wish me luck….
