Are YOU having “ISSUES” Stacking at Walgreens???
I think the two main ”issues” that I receive comments and emails about… is regarding “stacking” of coupons and receiving Register Rewards if you use coupons at Walgreens.
So I am going to take a couple quick seconds to address this issue!
If you notice the photo above, it is taken directly from the last page of Walgreens August 14thWeekly Ad. If you still have your ad, I would suggest holding on to it and maybe keeping a copy of it in with your coupons, so you can help educate your local friendly Walgreens Cashier/Manger!
First, you will notice the “Cottonelle” ad…
It is showing you that you CAN combine an in store coupon form their coupon booklet WITH a manufacturer coupon to maximize your savings! Many cashiers/managers state that those coupons in the book are Manufacturer Coupons because quite frankly it says it right on the coupon, but they are truly Walgreens Store Coupons because they are coded as such, so you CAN “stack” them with your regular manufacturer coupons!
Then notice the “Lysol Healthy Touch Hand Soap System” ad….
It is showing you that you CAN use a coupon and still receive a Register Reward!!
Walgreens is advertising and ENCOURAGING US to use our coupons with their coupons as well as using coupons when buying Register Reward items. I suggest if you have an issue, show them the ad and be polite. You catch more bees with honey (as they say)…

Do you have problems “stacking” at Walgreens???
I personally don’t have problems “stacking” my manufacturer coupons along with the coupons from the Walgreens Coupon Books, but I have received numerous emails and comments that some stores are not allowing the “stacking” of coupons!
Well, if you have the 4/17 SmartSource insert with the above page, you may want to tear it out and keep it with your coupons and show your Walgreens store managers that Walgreens encourages us to stack our manufacturer coupons with the coupons from the coupon booklets!

WALGREENS WRITTEN COUPON POLICY!! MY PRAYERS HAVE BEEN ANSWERED!!
Well, this I have to tell you is awesome!!! There should be a lot less “manager discretion” issues when shopping at Walgreens!!
I highly suggest that you go HERE and print their coupon policy and keep it with your coupons!! I am sure it will take cashiers and managers some time to familiarize themselves with their own policy!!!
So here are some of the highlights:
Sale Items
Walgreens will accept manufacturer coupons for an item that is on sale.
In the event that any item’s selling price is less than the value of the coupon, Walgreens will only accept the coupon in exchange for the selling price of the item. Coupon redemption can never exceed the selling price of an item and no cash back is ever provided in exchange for any coupons. (This should resolve the issue of adjusting a coupon down)
Multiple Coupons
When purchasing a single item, Walgreens accepts one manufacturer coupon and applicable Walgreens coupon(s) for the purchase of a single item, unless prohibited by either coupon offer.
The coupon amount must be reduced if it exceeds the value of the item after other discounts or coupons are applied. (For example, a $5.00 coupon for a $4.99 item will result in a $4.99 coupon value). (Again, this should hep with getting coupons adjusted down)
When purchasing multiple items, Walgreens accepts multiple identical coupons for multiple qualifying items as long as there is sufficient stock to satisfy other customers, unless a limit is specified. Management reserves the right to limit the quantity of items purchased.
Buy One, Get One Free Coupons
When items are featured in a Buy One, Get One Free promotion, up to two coupons can be used against the items being purchased, as long as the net price does not go below zero for the items being purchased.
Internet/Print at Home Coupons
Walgreens accepts valid internet/print at home coupons.
Register RewardsTM coupons
They have really spelled out Register Reward Guidelines, but the following seems to be the biggest issue many of you face:
There is a limit of one Register RewardsTM (RR) printed per offer per customer per transaction.
(PLEASE NOTE IT SAYS “PER OFFER, PER TRANSACTION”, NOT ONE RR PER TRANSACTION)
There are more guildines, so I really suggest you go HERE, read it over, familiarize yourself with it and print that sucker off and KEEP IT WITH YOU!!

HAVING PROBLEMS USING COUPONS AT A STORE???
I seem to get a lot of emails from readers stating that a cashier or manager won’t let them use certain coupons at various stores, what do you do??
Well, here’s the best advice I can give you!! Make sure you read, understand, print and keep a copy of your stores coupon policy with your coupons! This way if you are having a problem, you can show them their coupon policy!!!
TARGET - Corporate Coupon Policy
WALMART – Corporate Coupon Policy
SHOP ‘N SAVE - Internet Printable Coupon Acceptance Policy
DIERBERGS - Double Coupon Policy and Internet Printable Coupon Policy
THE FOLLOWING STORES DON’T HAVE A PUBLISHED COUPON POLICY, (at least that I have been able to find), so put these phone numbers in your cell phone, for quick easy access! I find that if I have a problem, it’s best to call the corporate office right from the store, so that the issue can be resolved before I leave. Also, this helps when the corporate office may need to clarify their coupon policy directly to the cashier or manager.
WALGREENS: 1-800-WALGREENS
One Walgreens and one manufacturer coupon can be used for the same item, unless either coupon prohibits such use. Walgreens Ad Coupons, Instant Value Coupons (IVC), and a manufacturer’s coupon can be used towards the purchase of any one item.
Walgreens does not provide cash back if a coupon is presented for morethan the purchase value of the item (e.g., the customer is using the coupon to purchase a clearance item). If the retail of the item is less than the face value of the coupon: the coupon value shall be the retail value if the state requires taxes to be paid on that item, the coupon value shall be the retail value plus taxes if the state does not require taxes to be paid on the item.
Managers have the right to limit the quantities of all advertised items.
CVS: 1-800-SHOP-CVS
Email response regarding coupon policy
CVS allows 1 CVS coupon and 1 manufacturer coupon per item. In a situation where there is a BOGO sale and the customer has BOGO coupons, they would be accepted and the customer would only pay sales tax if applicable. We do not give cash for coupons, so if the coupon had a higher dollar off value than the price of the product, the amount of the coupon would be adjusted.
CVS/pharmacy does accept manufacturer’s coupons that have been obtained from an approved Web site sponsored by the manufacturer. The coupon should be complete and contain a bar code that can be scanned at the register.
RITE AID: 1-800-RITEAID
Email Reponse regarding coupon policy
One internet coupon can be used per item; however, there is a $5.00 limit on each internet coupon. Similar to manufacturer’s coupons, only one internet coupon is accepted for each item, unless coupled with a manufacturer’s or valuable coupon found in a Rite Aid circular.
K MART: 1-866-KMART-4U
To find the coupon policy for a store not listed, check your store’s website first to see if they post a policy. If they don’t post their policy, it’s best to contact the store’s customer service area to clarify the policy and keep the number handy, just in case you need it down the road!
I hope this helps!!!

WALGREENS 101
Guide to Walgreens
Walgreens rewards it’s shoppers with an in store coupons called Register Rewards that prints when you buy certain promotional products.
Register Rewards
Register Rewards are coupons that print from a machine called a Catalina machine, that is used by many grocery and/or drug stores stores. These Register Rewards are Walgreens specific coupons (meaning you can only use them at Walgreens). Register Rewards are Manufacturer coupons issued by the Manufacturers of the promotional products that are on sale that week. For example: You buy Schick Razors and a $5 Register Reward prints – this Register Reward is provided by Schick as a manufacturer coupon so when you use your Register Reward, Walgreens will submit the Register Reward to Schick in order to be reimbursed for that coupon, plus a small handling fee.
What makes a Register Reward print?
Register Rewards are linked to certain promotional products offered each week. Sometimes you only have to buy one item, other times you are required to purchase a certain number of items or a certain dollar amount of items.
Can I use a Register Reward to buy the same item again?
NO! If you go in and buy an item or items that make a Register Reward print and then you try to use that particular Register Reward again to buy the same item(s) the next Register Rewards will not print. This is Walgreens way of “limiting” the number of promotional items each person can buy.
Can I use a Register Reward to buy a different Register Reward item or items?
YES! You can “roll” your Register Rewards buy using them to purchase other items that are promoted by other Manufacturers offering Register Rewards for thier products, as long as you are not using them on the same product or other products offered by the same manufacturer.
How long are Register Rewards good for?
Most Register Rewards are good for 14 days from the date of print. If you DO NOT shop Walgreens on a weekly basis, I suggest you have another transaction ready go, so you can use your Register Rewards right then and there. This will solve the problem of having to remember when your rewards are expiring.
Coupon to Item Ratio
You can not have more Manufacturer Coupons than you do items. For instance, you can NOT purchase one item and use a manufacturer coupon from the paper and a Register Reward. If you want to use your Register Reward (considered a manufacturer coupon) you must purchase a “Filler item”. A filler item is any item that costs next to nothing to buy and allows you to use your Register Reward for full value! Walgreens coupons do not count into the coupon to item ratio, ONLY Manufacturer Coupons.
