CVS FOR NEWBIES
First, you need to get a CVS ExtraCare Card! Ask a cashier for an application and card.
.
ECB’s (Extra Care Bucks) are earned when you buy items on promotion! (ie. “Buy ___, receive $___ ECB’s”. These promotions can be found in the weekly/monthly ads. When you purchase the promotional item, your ECB’s will print at the end of your receipt! Clip them and keep them as you would cash!
.
ECB’s can be used to purchase nearly anything in the store. (excludes prescriptions, alcohol, Gift Cards, lottery, money orders, postage stamps, pre-paid cards and tobacco products, as printed on the ECB).

Hi Carrie,
I am going to CVS for the first time this week. I have set up an ExtraCare Card to start collecting extra bucks. Now, I am looking at the weekly ad from the newspaper and wondering what it means when next to the item it says “WITH CARD” by the product description and price?? Can you clear this up for me?
Thanks, Robyn
People who dont use the ExtraCare Card actually pay a higher price, so when it says “with card” that is the price you get when you use you extracare card
Wow… that’s what I thought, but I wanted to make sure before I trek all the way to my closest CVS pharmacy. (Not one close to me…) You would think people without a card who looked at the ad would get rather mad about that. Thanks for verifying… looks like I’m doing it right.
I have never set foot in a CVS before and am curious about their programs. Are they similar to Walgreen’s? Will I need to purchase filler items to use the ECB’s like I do with RR at Wags? Can I use the ECB’s immediately? Do they have store coupons? Sorry for the all the questions, I just hate missing all these FREE deals every week!
It is similar to Wags RR, except you can use them right away and you don’t need filler items. They do offer store coupons through their “Magic Kiosk” where you scan your card when you enter as well as occasional printable store coupons
Awesome! Thank you!
