HOW EBATES WORKS!

So I’m sure if you have been a frequent reader of my site, you have read posts where I mention Ebates!  Well, I have had a number of emails asking me about how Ebates works, so I thought I would do a post explaining it!

**First you head over to Ebates and create an account.  It’s TOTALLY FREE to sign up, plus you get a $5 Bonus when you do!  They ask some basic personal information, it’s super easy.  Click on the my ebates tab, fill out the Address, email and password section, then go to cash back method and select either payment by check or paypal.

**Once you have your account set up, you login and start shopping.  You can search for the name of a particular store on the Ebates site, and then click on the store name to be taken to their shopping page just like if you went directly to the online store site.  Select your item(s) and pay for them.  Your payment is received directly by the online store and shipping comes from that store…Ebates is basically out of the picture once you get onto the stores website!  Then a few days later, you can check your Ebates account and see that your cash back has been credited!

**There are two ways to save money using Ebates. First, you earn a cash back rebate based on a percentage of your entire purchase, but you will also find money saving coupon codes that could possibly save you more money!  If the store has a coupon available, it will have a small coupon tag beside the store name.  Click on the coupon tag and see what that store has to offer.  

**Once your cash back credit is posted, you get an email or you can just check your Ebates account. 

**Lastly, you just wait for your check or Paypal payment to arrive quarterly.  This may seem like a long time to wait for your cash back, but since it is like FREE money since you would have bought online anyway, it gives you time to get a good amount built up in your account. 

**The rebate/cash back amounts are based on a percentage of your purchase and vary from store to store, usually the 2-6% range, but can go up to 25%.

**You HAVE TO click through the Ebates site to the online retail store for it to count.  If you leave the site and come back, you will need to log back into Ebates and click the store link again to that store.

**While Ebates is a great way to get cash back on your online purchases, make sure that you write down any other coupon/promo codes that you may see posted on my site or any other site, since Ebates may not have all available codes in the store’s coupon section.

**You do  have to accumulate at least $5 in your account (after signup bonus) before you can receive your cash back!  If you don’t do a lot of online shopping, it may take a little while to get your cash back rebate, but it will just continue to accumulate until you have enough to get a check.  You don’t lose your cash back, you just need to continue to accumulate until you meet the $5 amount.
