I HAVE A QUESTION – HOPE YOU CAN HELP!

I am heading out to do a little RESEARCH or as my husband calls it…SHOPPING!  But before I head out, I have a question and I am hoping you can help me out!!

As many of you know, I have been on a weight loss journey for about a month and a half!  It’s been slow going, but I am starting to figure some things out!

Anyway, here’s what I need help with!!!  There are a ton of cookbooks on the market and honestly, I don’t have all day to stand in the bookstore and go through each one!!

Are you aware of a GOOD Cookbook that features healthy meals that take less than 30 minutes to prepare and the recipes don’t include a jazillion ingredients??

Please leave a comment with any recommendations you might have!!

Thanks a bunch!!

My neighbor loves Hungry Girl Cook Books. She has shared a few recipes with us at gatherings and they have been wonderful

I second the Hungry Girl line. She also has a website where you can find most of the recipes that are in her cookbooks, plus some that aren’t.

We constantly utilize our “Cook Yourself Thin” cookbook. I was introduced to it by their show they used to have on tv. You can probably even google them and find a few of their recipes to try before you buy the book. My favorite Penne ala Not-ka! Who knew pasta could be diet and yummy! It’s a way of life in our home! Good Luck

    Hi Carie
I don’t know if you can find them in stores, although I have seen them in Farm & Home, Rural King, etc…. Taste of Home Cooking Light. They have a monthly mag, and annual cookbooks. Simple, good, light.
    Hope this helps.
BTW…Thanks for all you do…. have to admit I’m a little overwhelmed by it all. Work full time so don’t have as much time to devote to the couponing thing, but as a single mom, have to do something. So my son & I are trying. Robin

I believe Rachael Ray has a cookbook for meals made easy in 30 min and also for weight loss. Also I would like to THANK YOU for all you do on your web page. I have saved lots of money since I started looking at your web page. I have told all my friends and they love it also. Again THANK YOU

I’ve had lots of success with the Body for Life program – it’s exercise and diet. He also has a cookbook – haven’t tried a lot of the recipes, but the ones I’ve tried have been good. You can really do this program without doing lots of fancy cooking.

I love the Hungry Girl cookbooks. I know they have them at Lowe’s because that is where I bought my last one at.

  8. I second the “Cook yourself thin” cookbook but you can get many of the recipes free online!

Weight Watchers has a 30 minute or less cookbook designed for on the go mom’s or dad’s. Very simple ingredients. You can go in any weight watcher location and buy a book. I have it and have made yummy recipes from it.

I really like Cooking Light magazines as well. It takes lots of higher fat recipes that we love and makes them lighter. I like the magazine since it gives you different recipes on a monthly basis. I have a healthy chicken marsala recipe from Cooking Light that I use all the time and entertain with.

You can sign up with hungry girl online and get emails nearly every day. Lots of tips and recipe links for free.

Also – get a cheap pedometer (mine was only $5). Get at least 10,000 steps each day. (Tip from Dr. Oz.) Really has helped me.

Speaking of Dr. Oz – the doctoroz.com website is another good link for healthy eating.

I love the Hungry Girl cookbooks. I don’t use them a whole lot but they are a great resource. I follow the Weight Watchers plan and eat pretty much whatever I make for my family but just count the points on everything I eat. Good Luck!!

My MIL just got Cooking Light Fresh Food Fast. It’s great. It has a ton of really easy recipes that have 5 ingredients or less. We tried one of the soups this weekend and it was great. The wonderful thing about it is that if you don’t have all the ingredients it calls for, you can substitute no problem. Good luck

I agree, the Hungry Girl Cookbooks are AWESOME!! But, on a more frugal note, I would suggest you head on over here….

It is on the WW site, but these are recipes made up by other Weight Watchers and most of them are really yummy. Oh, and it is FREE. You can print off the ones that you like. I have a whole binder full of these recipes. I use this site often. I do have to admit I am a bit partial to WW as I am a Weight Watcher and I share your pain. It is not easy, but definitely worth it. I have lost 135 pounds so far and still going strong. I have about 50 more to lose. So, keep up your good work girl! :)
