KSSlogotransparentI’ve promised myself that I would use this platform to be a little more transparent and let you guys know a little more about myself.

By now you know I have 2 kids, but what you don’t know is that I’d been overweight after having my son 5 years ago.  I just never took the time to try and get rid of the excess weight that I gained when I was pregnant…kept eating the same and all.  After a few medical issues, I decided enough was enough and at the end of 2012, I decided to change.  It hasn’t been easy. I began eating healthy and clean and began working out frequently.  This is why I paused with posting recipes because I wasn’t sure what to post! Fortunately I now have a small arsenal of clean and yummy recipes (a balance is always good right?!?) to share, which I’ve already begun to do!  I’ve also shared with you the Couponing Basics- You CAN Buy Healthy on a Budget…Here’s HOW post to hopefully show you that you can eat healthy and still maintain a budget!

kss-weight-lossIt’s been a loooong road, but I’m already down 30lbs (bulked up a little from weights so it could have been more, but I’ll take muscle over fat any day!)!!!

My struggle continues as I’m continuing my mission into 2014 to get fit! I’m a work in progress, but my hope is that by me documenting this journey, I can see how far I’ve come and also hold myself accountable even more now that I have put it out there!

I hope to be an inspiration to some and also hope that some of you will chime in and join me! I’d love to have open discussions about weight loss and becoming fit to learn more about you and vice versa!

Great! You look wonderful, wish I could do it but with so many problems with my spine, I’m afraid to do most workouts. I do try to play Wii games with my grandson, I can do that for about 15 min (carefully), after that, I can’t move for a week. I’m proud of you. I’ll be sure to check out those recipes in the link above.

Bless you Christine! THANK YOU!! I was so nervous about posting this that I almost deleted it lol! One thing I’ve learned is that it’s not all about exercise but it’s about eating right too… there’s always room for improvement :) Praying your health situation gets better, I know how difficult and trying that can be!

What gym do you use? We were going to purchase a treadmill so my husband I can could start to lose some weight, but we discovered our basement has too low of ceilings. We would need babysitting at a gym. What do you recommend? I need to lose this baby weight.

I actually go to the gym at my job sometimes, but I have an elliptical, some weights and a kettle bell at home in my basement that I workout with during the week! There are a few workout apps that I use that help you with some of the workouts at home… when the weather turns, walking is good (I started jogging as well), and pair that with eating cleaner, that makes for a great start! So there are actually quite a few options to get started, particularly without paying the high costs of gym memberships, etc

Great Job!!! It is so hard being a mom and putting yourself first. I was 200 lbs in 2005 and went down to 128 lbs. I believe if you don’t take the time to take care of yourself no one else will!!! You look great!!!

Thanks Jen! And you are soooo right, you MUST take time for yourself as a mom! It doesn’t have to be much, but every little bit helps…and in my case, it almost did more harm than good! CONGRATS on the weight loss.. that’s AWESOME! What an accomplishment!

You look great. Keep up the great work. My husband and I are trying to get healthier this year as well but its hard to find yummy but good for you meals. Keep those recipes coming :)

Thanks Megan! It’s a process…my family still eats the same…I’m the weirdo lol! I cook for them and fix myself something special when I need to. Someone once told me “Eat to Live or Live to Eat”… I thought about it and never really looked back! I’ve also become a master at sneaking healthy foods into dishes so the kids have no idea and eat them anyway ;) It’s a process, but when I find healthy recipes that work… I’m definitely posting them!!
