POSTED IN: Pay it Forward

Stamp out Hunger is this Saturday, May 14! To participate, just fill a durable, disposable bag with healthy, non-perishable foods like canned vegetables, peanut butter, pasta or cereal for food-insecure families, children and seniors. Once you’ve filled the bag, leave it near your mailbox for your letter carrier to pick up on Saturday, May 14. The letter carriers will deliver all donations to the local food banks.

This is a great opportunity for you to use some of your overstock to pay it forward!

I went yesterday to Deirbergs and did the 10 for 10 sale on Hamburger Helper. Well I didn’t need 10 boxes of HH, so I did three of the Tuna Helper and 6 cans of tuna to donate. I figured the TH wasn’t going to help without the tuna! And can I also say, that I had 2 coupons for 75 cents off 2 HH. So I ended up getting 3 boxes oh HH, 3 TH, and 4 Suddenly Salad for 3.50, the 5 dollar off incentive that’s taken off at the register!

Ooopps, sorry it was 75 cents off 3 boxes, not 2.

I hope every couponer puts out a bag of food. Is there really an easier way to help the community then to set a bag of free food by your mailbox! I will be helping collect and deliver food during Stamp Out Hunger in my area and I hope to be kept busy all day :)

Isnt it supposed to rain on Sat? I hope not, that will ruin the foods!!! They put a blue bag in my mailbox today so that is handy. Is peanut butter non-perishable and do you think it would be ok outside if the mail person comes late in the day? I dont want to set it out too early and have it go bad but I dont want to set it out too late and miss it!
